So, last week the kitchen was removed in preparation for the fitting of the new one.
Amanda was particularly pleased to see the back of the breakfast bar, which has mainly served as somewhere to put stuff whilst it gets in the way of cooking.
In preparation for the kitchen removal we boxed all the cupboards up and stored them, in the lounge. We also had all the stonework removed from around the fireplace, so it’s looking a bit bare now, but given that the fire no longer works (because it leaks gas) this is a minor problem.
One morning I caught the guys discussing how they were going to plumb in the new drain the en-suite bathroom requires to the existing drain work. They commented that they felt as if they were starting to put the place back together. So it was quite a surprise to come home that evening to find a large hole in the corner of the kithen. Apparently there’s a pipe that ran from the existing drain to the corner of the kitchen and they’re using that to plump in, saves a lot of digging up of our path.
